So about 95% of these images are not shot with natural light. We use Broncolor strobes for all of our lighting. We also use Cambo UST stands that have long arms that extend out over the food for overhead shots. We usually don't stand by or near the direction of the light so shadows are not an issue. Sometimes we do shoot separate exposures if something is too light or too dark but that is not very often. Thanks for the kind words!

Honestly I really like the editorial style of your food shots! You are getting a consistent look throughout the shots which is key in building a portfolio etc.

My few minor critiques would be to bring up the shadows a little bit more on the food. In the creamy tuna sushi shot, if you brought up the shadows a little bit more on just the food, while leaving the darkness everywhere else I think it could help a bit. (I really really like that shot a lot). A good example of this is your crumbed prawn burger, another great shot!

and on some of the overhead shots I think it would be beneficial to stop down on your aperture some to really let the texture of all the food and plate a surface to really show up.

Other than that I think you really have an eye for this and you should definitely stick to it
